What are the best wooden flooring options and why?

Before choosing a wood floor, you should know more about different wooden flooring options. Some types of wooden flooring that should be selected depending on the type of decoration, cost and features required are: engineered hardwood, laminate, solid hardwood, cork, and bamboo. In the following, we will examine the features of each of these options.

Wooden flooring option No 1: Engineered hardwood

Engineered hardwood is composed of 3 to 4 layers of wood glued together to form a 14 mm plank. A real wood surface of 4 mm is installed on the top that makes it possible to sand and refinish several times to remove possible damage, wear, or tear. Engineered hardwood construction allows a more stable decoration. The greater stability means it is less sensitive to temperature and humidity changes. This option has a better appearance than a laminate floor, and is also cheaper than solid hardwood. The cost depended on the brand and styles, ranges from $20 to $100 per square meter. Engineered hardwood floors are available in various styles to match any decoration.

Wooden flooring option No 2: Laminate

Laminate is another wooden flooring option that is composed of fiberboard layers with a photographic form of wood grain, stone, or tile over it. A protective coating surface helps prevent damages and gives a more beautiful appearance to the finished surface. Laminate is a cost effective option that has good resistance to erosion. Some manufacturers produce waterproof laminate core, which makes it a good choice for wet spaces such as bathrooms and pools. For this reason, if you intend to install laminate flooring in such spaces, be sure to pay attention to the technical specifications of the manufacturer. If the laminate is not waterproof, it is extremely sensitive to moisture. In any case, laminate is one of the most common options for wooden flooring.

However, laminate can not create the same look and feel as real wood flooring. The laminate wears out quickly and is not easy to repair. If you are planning to renovate a space for sale or rent, we suggest that you consider other wooden flooring options as well.

Wooden flooring option No 3: Solid Hardwood

Solid hardwood planks usually consist of a piece of wood 18 to 20 mm thick. These planks have groove and tongue and are fastened together. Hardwood planks may be harder or softer, and the harder the material, the greater its resistance to scratches and damage. This flooring looks brighter with sanding which can be repeated several times depending on the quality of the planks.

Solid hardwood is a good wooden flooring option to enhance the visual appeal of the indoor space. Using solid hardwood in interior decoration can increase the value of your business. Although it is one of the most expensive wooden flooring alternatives, note that it is not suitable for wet environments.

Wooden flooring option No 4: Bambo

Bamboo originated in Asian countries, especially China. This wooden flooring option can be used in different styles and in a variety of decorations. The strength of this wood flooring is that because it has grown in the tropics, it has a high resistance to moisture and does not wear out quickly. Bamboo flooring is made from compressed bamboo fibers.

If you are one of those people who care about green business, bamboo wooden flooring is a good option for you because it is environmentally friendly. Bamboo flooring makes your feet feel good because it is softer than other types of flooring. Of course, the disadvantage of this flooring is that it is more easily scratched and damaged. Nevertheless, it is one of the most expensive floors.

Wooden flooring option No 5: Bambo

Cork floor is made up of oak tree bark. These trees are grown in countries such as Spain, Portugal, Italy, Morocco, and Tunisia. The same as bamboo floors, cork floors are environmentally friendly and considered as a sustainable and also renewable resource. Its natural beauty can suite any decor. The features of the cork allows for a comfort and softness which absorbs shock. The use of this wooden flooring is very suitable for areas where people walk barefoot. Cork floors can also reduce noise pollution caused by moving or falling objects.
